Education secretary Betsy Devos was sharply criticized by a federal judge for her department continuing to collect on loans through the now defunct for profit Corinthian College. The Department of Education was supposed to stop collecting these loans as a result of a lawsuit by former students of the college. Devos and her department with ignored the order or were not properly advised to stop collecting. Either way, it’s the latest in a line of acts that has demonstrates the Secretary Devos is no friend to the student loan borrower and any meaningful relief from student loans at the political level will not occur until there is a new president.
